Children holding acorns ready for planting

Join Napa Vision 2050  and RCD (Resource Conservation District) on Saturday, November 11, from 10 am to noon, to plant acorns and hope in the hills west of Napa.

We will be planting valley oak, black oak, and the most fire resilient of all, coastal oak acorns.

After planting, enjoy lunch  provided by Napa Vision 2050. Participation will be limited to about 20. Children are encouraged! Please reply to editor@napavision2050.org to reserve your spot. We will send directions.

Since the area to be planted is hilly, wear boots or sturdy shoes, a hat, and layers of clothing in case it’s cool.

Follow Up:
We have been receiving requests, asking “What should I do with burned areas?”

Check out RCD’s resource page at http://naparcd.org/fire/  for more information.

Angela, Check with Jemma Williams . They are in a huge acorn gathering project to re-oak CA. Jemma would know.

I have a 5 gallon bucket of Live Oak acorns from a beautiful and very prolific tree. Would you like to have them to spread this magnificent tree a little further? Please advise. If not, what should I do to plant these acorns here in Circle Oaks. So many trees were lost in the fire and many more (even healthy trees) are being cut down by the Utility contractor in Wooden Valley along Suisun Valley & Wooden Valley Road (#sickening).

Please contact RCD, which is looking for more acorns. We have enough for the November 11 planing. By all means, consider planting in Circle Oaks, and maybe asking RCD for direction on how– or join us November 11 and learn by doing!

        Hi Patricia,

I do not know where to go to meet the group for the November 11 planting from 10-12 pm. Could
you send me an e-mail with information about where to go?

        Diane
